overpills: researching cities and capitalism. quite morbid.
smurph: Morbid? How so?
overpills: well, it mainly revolves around production of slums and urbanisation without development. i.e. people migrate to cities nto because there are chances created there but because they've been driven out of the rural areas..
smurph: "production" and "driven" make it sound very structured...not that I'm defending the capitalists, but, as Foucault would view it, power goes both ways.
overpills: yeah, i'd love to apply foucault here, but... i do believe 'driven' is the right word. not necessarily by capitalism, also war. 'production' works both ways, i don't think it implies there's an agency that produces.?
smurph: omg - i've mentioned poststructuralism, and now my head hurts! Must go to sleep....

sociologist on the lose
this is a digital scrapbook for my sociological research on self, identity and representation through creative processes (unfortunately that is as precise as i get at the moment). I selfishly (and self-indulgently) leave it here in case any one would like to help me out with some comments. Cheers.
